MORTON CREDIT UNION was chartered for business in February of 1941. Depositors are insured by the National Credit Union Administration, a U.S. Government Agency up to $100,000.00.
Credit Unions are mutually owned by its members, a group of people united by a common bond, who save their money together and make loans to each other from the accumulated funds. Our Credit Union’s objective is not to make money, but to help members to manage their money. We are a non-profit organization that serves its members only and is solely owned an operated by its members. Members elect a Board of Directors to manage the Credit Union and the Board of Directors appoints a Credit Committee and a Supervisory Committee to make loans and examine the Credit Union respectively.
Each member has one vote, regardless the size of their savings. Each year, we are examined by the State of Kansas and periodically by Federal examiners. The Supervisory Committee audits the Credit Union at least once per year to insure that it is operated properly.
There are no outside stockholders to pay and the earnings that remain after operating expenses and required reserves are paid back to members in dividends and lower loan rates.
All eligible members are covered by life insurance up to $3,000 solely paid by the Credit Union.

SHARES: Regular savings, Share drafts (checking), Share certificates, Christmas club,Money Management, IRA
OTHER: Free counseling, budget analysis, traveler’s checks, money orders, cashiers checks, notary service.
